The rivalry is strong for this one: introducing the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata and the Fiat 124 Spider. At first glance, you’re going to have to fall for both of them simultaneously, because they do share quite a bit of similarities. On second thought, you might just go for the one that looks prettier on the outside.
We’re not saying that looks matter above everything else, but prove us wrong in this case. The Fiat 124 Spider’s design is completely Italian from one end to another, but the one that really wowed us (by comparison) is the Miata.
In terms of dimensions, the Fiat is longer, wider and heavier in comparison to the Miata (except for the height). The only difference between the cars is the weight, and is a full 104 pounds heavier than the Miata, making it harder to steer when compared to the Miata.
We love the Miata, but the 124 Spider certainly gives off the youth roadster vibe, and it has that nostalgic feel to it. Can we get both of the cars to merge into one? We really can’t decide.
