2016 Mazda CX-5 Interior Facelift: Missing Infotainment System?

The Mazda CX-5 is about to get refreshed with a mid-cycle facelift and this upcoming model is due to arrive in 2016. While that may be a long way from now, car junkies can already catch a glimpse of the vehicle’s interior.

This is through viewing the Mazda CX-5 on the JDM brochure which teases on the vehicles interior, getting some changes as well. At a glance, everything seems to be identical to the existing CX-5. The changes are mostly on the central dashboard with the air conditioning controls now positioned higher up.

Obviously, this was made possible through the removal of the infotainment console that is expected to be embedded on the dashboard like the Mazda6. Also, there is no sign of a rotary dial anywhere. The idea of Mazda to remove such a huge feature from the vehicle seems unlikely.

As such, we expect that the upcoming CX-5 Facelift is to get the all-new Mazda Connect, 7” floating screen instead of the Tomtom. The only way for this to not happen is if the JDM brochures are wrong with their information.

Nevertheless, this will all be clarified in a matter of days from now as the CX-5 Facelift is confirmed to participate in the annual LA Auto Show event happening this week. There, Mazda will surely spill more beans on the compact SUV.
