Lexus has proven itself to be on par with other luxury carmakers and now, it is about to take another step forward by making its vehicles lighter. The Japanese carmaker revealed that they will start on this new path with the upcoming RX Facelift.
In detail, Lexus shared that both the RX350 and RX450 Facelift will be built with aluminium parts and the move comes with the aim of reducing the weight of the SUVs. Of course, not everything will be structured with aluminium. Lexus confirmed that only the hood, tailgate and closures are made with the lighter metal.
With the RX Facelift losing a lot of weight from the application of aluminium, it promises to offer more power and better fuel economy. However, Lexus has yet to share any performance figures so it is best to wait until the RX Facelift gets released to learn more about the improvements.
