2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Capabilities Showcased

The new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat 707 horsepower is a spiritual graft of the 426 Hemi, and it is a car that will turn mid-11-second quarter-miles right off the showroom floor. It’s fast, but not as impressive as the eight’s output.

Because of the torque level, grip is a huge priority, and choosing the tires for the car is not an easy task. The Pirelli P Zero tires’ Y speed rating (186 mph) is considered too low for the Hellcat, which has no limited and can go close to 200 mph.

The Nitto NT555R275 street-legal tires that are made in Japan, and Nitto is the only company that creates a soft-compound radial that fits the 20-inch Hellcat rim. It’s V-rated, so you cannot exceed 149 mph with these tires.

On the other hand, Hoosier does not come with a 20-inch wheel, so the tires need steel racing rim huge enough to fit the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat’s large brake. At 1.685 seconds, it nearly matches the Nitto’s 1.676 seconds but the gap grows bigger, and the car only manages to pull an 11.398-second ET out of the Hoosiers.
