The most powerful, most luxurious, most exclusive Bentley of SUVs, all-new 2016 Bentley Bentayga is not what you considered to be the Continental GT of SUVs. Bentley’s mission for this model isn’t to make ranks by being best in every category, and with no pun intended, it has achieved its goal in making so.
On the inside, the interior advances the current design language with a two-piece instrument panel – an upper portion that slides through the centre console in a “U” shape, and a lower portion that links the console to the centre tunnel. The ultimate highlight of the interior is the two-piece instrument panel, which gives a more sleeker and artful feel than on any other Bentley, and brings in more cohesiveness because it gives the console a cradle to reside in.
The Bentayga also weighs 264 pounds more than the 582-hp Continental GT, but 0.3 seconds quicker from 0-60 mph. Though it might have been superseded by other SUVs in terms of horsepower, luxury and fearless elements, the Bentayga is still relatively quick in its own way. It fits in a 6.0-litre, twin turbo W12 with two twin-scroll turbos, twin-injection and cylinder deactivation that can temporarily shut down six cylinders and opens valves to let pistons slide freely.
With that being said, it is claimed that the whole driving experience of the Bentayga won’t be jarring and that customers will just simply call it, “fast”. We’ll have to see about that when it hits the market in 2016.
