The latest Volkswagen Passat is known for many great things and this is why we have decided to give the car a test drive. However, upon doing so, we discovered something miserable with the Passat and that is its slowness in everything.
In detail, we tested out the Passat that was powered by a 2L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. While the engine might be powerful and fuel efficient, it failed to offer a pleasant driving experience.
The fault here is with the 6-speed transmission which is somewhat sluggish when need to respond to our throttle control. This resulted in some delays when trying to go fast with the Passat.
The worst part is that the infotainment system is also very slow to respond. Some of our touches on the screen failed to register and even if they do, it will take a while before the screen reacts. For a car that is supposed to by for the upmarket, slowness cannot be tolerated and VW need to sort this one out.
