The Toyota Yaris has just been refreshed with a brand new model and it is described as an ideal city car that is affordable to own. Well, there is no denying that fact as the Yaris does offer a simple driving experience with a low running cost.
Retailing from $15,670, the Yaris comes with a new design language that is very stylish. The hatch is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine which develops 106hp and 103ft-lbs of torque. Also, consumers will get to decide between the 5-speeed manual gearbox and the 4-speed automatic transmission.
This makes the Yaris adequately powered and also fuel economical at the same time. In figures, the Yaris returns 30mpg in the city, 37mpg on the highway and 33mpg on combined driving condition.
On the downside of things, comfort is absent with the Yaris. We had a test drive session with the vehicle yesterday and it failed to impress us one bit. The seats are hard, the plastic feels cheap and floor mats does not come as a standard. Furthermore, noise is poorly insulated for the Yaris. Even when driving at 60mph, things can get pretty loud and cranky in the cabin.
With that being said, we highly recommend consumers to stay away from the Yaris. After all, consumers can get more from other vehicles like the Ford Fiesta and Honda Fit. Both rival vehicles are simply sublime with their respective performance and they also have more space to offer.
