The Mitsubishi Lancer has long existed as one of the leading C-segment vehicles in history. However, the last model saw a drop in its popularity, which has forced the Japanese carmaker to go back to the drawing board and re-create the Lancer.
Word has it that Mitsubishi is considering using a Renault-Nissan model for the future Lancer. It is also revealed that Renault-Nissan Alliance has come to an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation to share their technologies and products with the latter.
Upon seeing the Lancer falling out of favour with the consumers, Mitsubishi is thinking of axing the whole model and create new ones that will appeal to the masses. The first model is rumoured to be something based on the Renault Latitude sedan.
The second model is still unknown but it will be a new C-segment vehicle that will look to compete with the likes of the Mazda 3, Honda Civic and Ford Focus when released.
With that being said, we believe that the new cars will go for a more stylish look rather than something sporty like the Lancer. Perhaps, car junkies are tired of that racerboy image and prefer something more elegant.
