It is a sad period of time for Mitsubishi lovers as the Evo badge has finally been ceased from production. The last of its kind is the 2015 Lancer Evolution MR and today, we are going to highlight why it is going extinct.
The Evolution MR is powered by a 2L turbocharged DOHC engine that is paired to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. This allows it to generate 291hp and 300ft-lbs of torque. While it all sounds powerful, this is something most carmakers are able to offer.
It seems that Mitsubishi is out of creative ideas for the Lancer Evolution and this has got the fanboys looking elsewhere for a sports sedan. Well, most of the Lance Evolution lovers switched to driving the WRX from Subaru.
The latter is simply the better option since it is able to offer a similar performance while also costing about $13,000 less than the Lancer Evolution. However, the decline of the Lancer Evolution should serve Subaru as a warning to never get lazy with the WRX.
The problem with Subaru cars so far is the lack of horsepower. If Subaru can overcome this issue, then there is no doubt that the WRX will be able to sustain for many years to come. If not, then the sports sedan will be at risk of going extinct too.
