Hyundai announced yesterday that on March 17 this month, the carmaker is going to launch the i20 Active supermini in India. The vehicle is basically the renamed Elite i20 that is available in South Korea and it will look to come with the same functions and features too.
In detail, both the chassis and the bodywork of the i20 Active will be identical to the Elite i20. The only changes is with the design touch-ups to make the i20 Active appear more like a pure SUV and they consist of the new bumper, large circular fog lamps, headlamps with LED DRLs and and silver plastic skidpad.
In addition to that, the i20 Active will also be getting a new bumper, bigger spoiler, silver skid plate and a shark fin antenna. To complete the package, the i20 Active will be equipped with a new infotainment system.
While it all sounds great for the i20 Active, it is unfortunate to learn that the vehicle is unlikely to debut in Europe. After witnessing how the Ford Figo didn’t get released in Australia despite getting produced there, we personally don’t think that they i20 Active is going to enter Europe despite being developed in the continent.
Then again, Hyundai is a totally different brand from Ford and they might just push the i20 Active out in Europe.
