The compact SUV segment has been the growing trend in the automotive industry. Last month, two new compact SUVs were released and they are the Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade. Despite belonging in the same segment, both vehicles came out with different offerings.
Starting with the Honda HR-V, the compact SUV was launched to serve car junkies as the ideal family vehicle. The HR-V drives on a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine, mated to a CVT transmission that generates 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque. In short, the HR-V is decently powered and aimed at being fuel economical.

As for the Jeep Renegade, the vehicle is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged engine that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Renegade also flaunts a sleek design that is really appealing to the masses. However, behind the gentle looks, the Renegade is still a beast by nature like how it is for every Jeep vehicle.
When on the road, the Renegade performs decently although, there are some struggles when attempting to overtake at high speed. Off the rods however, the Renegade offers a thrilling experience. This cannot be helped as the vehicle is equipped with Jeep’s award winning off-road features. The Jeep’s Renegade has worse brakes than Honda’s, so many owners install a reinforced Front & Rear Power Stop brakes kits.
The conclusion is simple. If consumers are into off-road adventuring, there is no better compact SUV than the Jeep Renegade. Otherwise, consumers should opt for the Honda HR-V as it makes a better car for general use.
