2015 Ford Ranger SUV Unveiled: Bits & Pieces Taken From Its Family

Ford has already unveiled the next-generation Ranger and it is due to arrive early next year. Unlike its predecessor, the upcoming Ranger is going to bear a different looks which seems to be inspired by the Ford Explorer. Since the Ranger is smaller than the latter, we call it the baby Explorer.

However, when it comes to engine, the Ranger is more like a Range UTE. After all, Ford has confirmed that the upcoming SUV is going to draw its powers from a 3.2L 5-cylinder diesel engine like how it is for the Range UTE. On the other hand, consumers can opt for the 2.2L Duratorq diesel engine or the 2L EcoBoost petrol engine that are offered to the Ranger SUV.

In terms of performance, the 2.2L mill is able to generate 110kW and 375Nm of torque. The 3.2L diesel mill offers 147kW and 470Nm for consumers to toy with. Then there is the signature EcoBoost engine that produces 179kW and 353Nm of torque. Regardless, the upcoming Ranger is going to offer a superb performance as it runs on the AWD system.

Furthermore, Ford will be completing the vehicle with a host of new technologies. The American carmaker confirmed that the list includes blind spot detection, along with lane departure and cross traffic alerts. The Ranger will also be capable of handling the rough wilderness since it comes with Ford’s advanced terrain management system and 225mm of ground clearance.

Unfortunately, these are the only information available on the upcoming Ranger SUV. The vehicle’s debut is not far away now and we can look forward to hearing more details about it by Ford.
