2015 Chevy Colorado Review: Weak Rivals Means Clear Roads

Chevrolet has released the Colorado and it marks the revival of the pickup truck market, which is the most favoured sector in the US’ automotive industry. Just by looking at the Colorado, it has a revolutionary look that commenced on the age of modern mid-size pickup trucks.

Size-wise, the Colorado is only about 5.5 inches narrower than the Chevrolet Silverado with a distance between the front and rear wheels that is about 14.5 inches less. The design is simply bolder and more cutting edge than any other pickup trucks in history.

Under the hood, Chevrolet is offering two different engines for consumers to choose from. For starters, there is the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that generates 200hp and 191ft-lbs of torque. The top-of-the-line motor is the 3.6L V6 mill that generates 305hp and 269ft-lbs of torque.

Transmission options vary from a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. This helps the Colorado to be the world’s most fuel efficient pickup trucks as it boasts fuel rating figures of 20/27mpg.

Chevrolet also did a great job in ensuring that the Colorado is customizable in every way. The pickup truck has three different trim levels and they are the Base, Work Truck, LT and Z71 models.

Prices starts at $21,000 and this is for the entry level Base version. The latter is comes with air conditioning, rear view camera, floor console and six speakers. The Work Truck trim is identical to the Base model except for the fact that it comes with additional accessories like back seats and carpeting.

Up one level is the LT and it offers cruise control, power driver’s seat, 8” infotainment system with Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and 18” wheels. Then, there is the Z71 model that adds in adds heated front seats, sliding rear window and a remote vehicle starter.

All in all, the Chevrolet Colorado is certainly superb. The vehicle simply sets a new benchmark while also, reviving the mid-size pickup truck industry. It is no wonder there are so many orders for the Colorado right now.
