The Acura TLX is the latest vehicle to come from the Japanese luxury carmaker but it failed to make it big on the global stage. When looking at the TLX, there isn’t a lot wrong for the saloon but it could have been better if Acura made multiple trims out of it.
The standard TLX is powered by the powerful V6 engine that is mated to a regular 9-speed automatic transmission. This enable the vehicle to generate 290hp easily all while running on the FWD system.
Then again, such a rig does not appeal to everyone, thus, it limits the TLX sales entirely. Perhaps, Acura should have offered more like a higher level trim. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that a TLX that runs on the SH-AWD system with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission can attract more consumers.
Perhaps, it is fear that is causing the Acura to hold back on doing so. After all, the luxury arm from Honda has not been doing well financially and they could be taking things slow. On the other hand, there is also the possibility that Acura is simply not a fan of dual-clutch transmission.
Whatever the reason may be, Acura needs to step up their game if they wish to be a big competitor in the luxury automotive market. The latest TLX was thought to be the comeback everyone has been waiting for but it has failed to impress the masses.
