2015 Honda HR-V vs Jeep Renegade: Not So Similar At All

Late last year, Honda launched the all-new HR-V and the compact SUV has enjoying quite a good sales record despite the overpopulated segment. On the other hand, there is the Jeep Renegade that has not been doing so well at all.

This is probably because of the fact that the Renegade is totally different from the HR-V, even though it is made to be a compact SUV. The Renegade is powered by a 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission which makes it a great highway cruiser.

However, the power of the Renegade is not meant for the roads but instead, off the roads. The vehicle is equipped with the best off-roading technologies from Jeep and it is able to tackle high hill ascends and also cross rivers.

Meanwhile, the HR-V is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that develops 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque while being paired to a CVT transmission. The car is completed with features like a multi-purpose steering wheel that is completed with audio controls, cruise control, phone control and steering wheel adjustments.

In short, the success of the HR-V is owed to the fact that it makes a nice, family-friendly compact SUV with a cheap running cost. The Jeep Renegade, on the other hand, is tailored for the off-road enthusiasts, thus, being less appealing to the general market.
