2014 Mazda CX-5 vs Subaru XV Crosstrek: The Ideal Survivalist

Modern day compact SUVs are nothing like the old times. Instead of being made to handle tough terrains, they are now built to be the boss on the normal roads. The latest Subaru XV Crosstrek is perfect example of this evolution but how does it compare to the already proven Mazda CX-5?

The Crosstrek arrived with an AWD system that is mated to a 5-speed transmission. TheCX-5 is a 4WD that runs on a 6-speed transmission. Both SUVs is powered by a 2L Gas 4 Cylinder engine. However, the more gears on theCX-5 means that it is more efficient.

As a matter of fact, the CX-5 is 6.1% more fuel savvy on the highway and 4% more efficient in city roads.

When it comes to features, the Crosstrek comes with heated front seats, Bluetooth connectivity, climate control aircon and hands free calling. The CX-5, on the other hand, comes with powered exterior mirror control, keyless ignition, one touch windows, a power tilt steering wheel and cruise control. Both of the vehicles come with USB/iPod ports, keyless entry and and auxiliary audio input jack.

The CX-5 is priced at $21,395. This is so much cheaper than the $21,995 price tag on the Crosstrek. Obviously, the CX-5 is the better SUV.
