Earlier this year, Honda released the next-generation Jazz and it became one of the bestselling vehicles around. However, the Jazz faces some stiff competition in its segment as it goes head-to-head with the Kia Rio, Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta.
In many ways, the Jazz is actually better than its competition. The hatchback enjoys tons of improvements as it comes with more practicality, superb design, new technologies that automated everything, simple interior and more efficient engine options.
Just by looking at the Jazz 1.4 EXL 5d we tested, the hatchback returns a whopping 50mpg. Also, the car is powered by the 1.4L engine that generates 98hp and 94ft-lbs of torque. This enables it to sprint from 0-62mph in 11.8 seconds while also achieving a top speed of 113mph. The Jazz we tested also retails at £16,655.
Of course, fuel consumption can also improve drastically if consumers pick up the hybrid model. In figures, the latter returns 62mpg. While it might cost £3,500 lesser than the diesel-powered Fiesta, it is still not as efficient.
Space isn’t an issue for the Honda Jazz. Everything is carefully positioned inside the hatchback. The legroom is adequate and the shoulder room is very generous. Also, everything can be folded to turn the Jazz into a super minivan.
There is one flaw with the Honda Jazz and it is the absence of thrill. As mentioned before, everything about the Jazz is digitalized which means that there isn’t much for the driver to do. It gets boring when driving the Jazz but is perfect for a new license holder.
