Japanese compact sedans have always sold well due to their affordability and reliability. The latest Honda Civic and the Mazda 3 are the perfect examples of great compact sedans but between the two, which is the better buy?
Looking at the Mazda 3, the vehicle is powered by a 2.0 liter gas 4 cylinder engine that is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. This produces 155hp while returning 29mpg in the city and 41mpg on the highway.
The Mazda 3 is also generous in offering tons of features to its owner. The list includes keyless entry, keyless ignition, sport seats, 1-touch windows, and the standard auxiliary audio input jack and USB/iPod connection. Safety features that will be included are the active head restraint safety system. The Mazda 3 retails from $16,945.
Then there is the Honda Civic. Costing from $18,390, the Civic is powered by a 1.8 liter gas 4 cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The motor produces 143hp while returning 28mpg in the city and 36mpg on the highway.
The Civic is equipped with features like Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, hands-free calling, power exterior mirror control, rearview camera, speed sensitive volume, 1-touch windows and the standard auxiliary audio input jack and USB/iPod connection.
Both vehicles are truly exceptional and it is hard to single a winner out. However, we have to side with the Mazda 3 as it is more efficient with its petrol consumption.
