When the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes out it may arrive in two different versions, one metal, which would be high end and the other a low cost plastic.
The release date for the Samsung Galaxy S5 could be April and with it Samsung may offer a choice to consumers of a cheaper plastic body or an all metal device that comes with a higher price tag. SamMobile said that an insider has given out details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 and that they may follow on from the idea of Apple in introducing metal and plastic versions of their handset.
Apple revealed the iPhone 5C and budget iPhone 5C last year and this year Samsung may do the same, Samsung after all are known for releasing the variants of their flagship device. SamMobile also said that Samsung could launch the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini along with the Samsung S5 Zoom not long after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
When Samsung launch the Samsung Galaxy S5 it could see Samsung moving towards a more sophisticated use of material, along the lines of what Apple use for the iPhone. Up to now Samsung have stuck with plastic but poor sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4 could have changed their minds. They may also have taken notice of the Apple iPhone 5s launch and decided to follow suit. If Samsung want the Samsung Galaxy S5 to stand out then they will have to change the feel and look of the handset.
Lee Seung Woo an IBK Securities analyst spoke to Bloomberg and “When we moved to S5 from S3, it’s partly true that consumers couldn’t really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective, so the market reaction wasn’t as big,” He went on to say “for the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, it’s about the display and the feel of the cover.”
It is thought that if Samsung launch the Samsung Galaxy S5 in metal it will cost around 800 euros, $1087. The plastic version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 could come in at about 650 Euros or $885 said SamMobile. It is thought that the Samsung Galaxy S5 could have a display of 5.25 inches AMOLED, with resolution of 2560 x 1440. The device could be powered by the Snapdragon 805 or possibly the Exynos 6 processor and may have KitKat 4.4 installed.
It is said that Samsung may include an eye scanner on the Samsung Galaxy S5, which would rival the fingerprint scanner of the Apple iPhone 5S.
Rumour has it that the Samsung Galaxy S5 could arrive at the Mobile World Congress and be released in April to consumers. If so, the handset would arrive one year after the Samsung Galaxy S4. It has been said that updates will then follow for the Samsung Galaxy Mini and Zoom variations.
