Newer LG Nexus 5 Shipping Now

Google launched the Nexus 5 recently but it seems that LG may have made some design tweaks to the hardware. The reason for this may be that the company have listened to what people want, but if so why didn’t they launch the handset at its best the first time around.

Over at the XDA Developers a user said that the handset they were sent had defects. One of these was the SIM card tray which they said protruded from the device. When Google replaced the handset the owners said that there were some tweaks when compared to the one he had returned.

The user reported that the speaker grille holes had been made larger so the sound came out louder and along with this the power and volume buttons were not as loose as they had been so they didn’t rattle. It was also said that the SIM card tray was now in line with the rest of the handset.

It was also pointed out that not all changes were good as the owner said the handset arrives with yellowish tinge and there were some green stuck pixels.

The Nexus 5 happens to be among the best devices on the market thanks to the handset being superb value for money. It was said that the only down side has been the camera, but this is something that Google are working on fixing.

It was also said that LG would make the Nexus 10 2nd gen, if so the 10 inch tablet could be more friendly on the wallet.

Google was contacted and asked about the changes and a spokesperson from LG said “We can confirm that the Nexus 5 has not undergone any hardware design changes since launch.” I asked LG how they explain the differences in the photo, and was told: “Naturally, we can’t really speculate on this specific handset. However, it could be that the user is or was in possession of a pre-commercial unit which may differ slightly from the final hardware.”
