Very soon from now, Ford will be launching the next-generation Focus RS and it will come with a greater performance and tons of new technologies to offer. Among them is a button that allows the Focus RS to drift perfectly on a bend.
Ford revealed earlier today that the newly developed electronic brains will assist in keeping the Focus RS aligned when performing a drift and all the driver has to do is push the button and pilot the car through a corner.
The electronic brain works together with the electronic stability control system and it operates through measuring on the live speed of the Focus RS. One trick to get the best out of the automated drifting is by getting far ahead of the car when turning and the Focus RS will aid itself in the rotation.
If drivers fail to do so, then the computer will notice it from the yaw rate before automatically taking over the steer for further assistance.
Of course, passionate drivers wouldn’t like the idea of a machine taking the pure fun away from them and Ford is well aware of this. As such, they made sure that the automated drifting system can be switch off if it is unneeded.
