Problems with the transmission lead frame on the Ford Mustang meant that Ford had to issue a recall to recall back their Ford Mustang but the Mustang is not the only one affected by Ford’s latest recall.
Besides the Ford Mustang, Ford will also be recalling the 2012 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and F-150 trucks. The affected model was the 2012 model. A total of 201,900 units will be affected by the recall.
According to the report, the transmission lead frame output speed sensor can force the transmission to shift into the first gear. Of this happen when the vehicle is traveling at a higher speed, the tires could slide or in some cases, get locked up.
Ford admited that the issue had been the causae of three accidient but aded no injuries has caused by the issue has been reported so far. The affected models will be getting their powertrain control module software update. Ford might also replace the transmission lead frame.
