Honda rarely makes a bad vehicle but when they do, we are here to put it in the spotlight. Today, we are going to do just that with the all-new Honda Insight. The compact sedan is simply horrible to look at and the performance is totally messed up.
In detail, the Insight adopts a more gentle and curvy design that is inspired by the Civic. It also comes with a sloping roof that reaches its end on the boxy rear. It might look decent but the proportions are all wrong.
The Insight runs on a 1.3L petrol engine that is paired to an electric motor. The duo generates a total of 98hp and 123ft-lbs of torque. It is also able to sprint from 0-62mph in 12.5 seconds and there is a top speed of 113mph. The Insight returns 65mpg while retailing at £22,535. Again, this sounds decent but it gets lost in translation when being put on the road.
The Honda Insight is simply too stiff. We floored the pedal and the response is too slow for our liking. Also, a lot of braking is needed at the simplest of corners. This is due to the steering wheel which somehow has a delay with every turns. Furthermore, there is simply no wind noise and road noise insulation which left us with twitching eyes and bleeding ears.
The Insight must have escaped the factory before Honda could have added comfort to it. This is why we cut our test short and returned the car immediately. For £22,535, we recommend getting something else.
