Unlike the past few years, Apple shaked up its release cycle by launching two new iPhone models simultaneously, the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. While the iPhone 5S is the true successor to the iPhone 5, the 5C also has its merits over the 1-year old smartphone. So much so that Apple has discontinued selling the iPhone 5.
So the big question is, if you were ready to upgrade from your iPhone 5, would it make sense to go for the cheaper iPhone 5C or is that meant more for those who have even older iPhones and wish to make an upgrade.
The answer is the latter. While the iPhone 5C did score slightly better in benchmarks than the iPhone 5 and has a slightly longer battery life, the real difference would be its colorful exterior. So if you’ve got the rainbow fever, upgrade to an iPhone 5C, otherwise you won’t find it was worth the extra dough after spending some weeks with the new Apple phone.
