BGR on iPhone 5: “LTE & NFC Confirmed”

The iPhone 5 is at the moment in the EVT3 stage which is the third revision of the engineering test, which means that at the moment, it is not in the DVT stage. Considering the production of iPhones in the past, which according to the source says that with Verizon the iPhone 4 went into the EVT2 stage in the middle of November and then EVT3 in the last week of that month. It went into DVT2 late during December. The iPhone 4 that was lost in a bar in San Francisco was in the DVT stage in March and went into EVT2 by the middle of February 2010.

Apple may be producing engineering samples of the latest incarnation and may be manufacturing handset enclosures so as to be able to iron out problems that arise before the real deal. However this is all that is occurring at the moment. The iPhone 5 that users will flock to Apple stores to buy is not in production at this moment in time.

BGR also have confirmation that Apple have been testing units with 1GB of RAM which is double that of the iPhone 4S with 512MB. LTE has also been integrated into the handset and NFC has also been confirmed for the new iPhone 5 claims the blog. It is thought that the device will be released towards the end of September or it could be in early October depending on when production kicks off.
