iPhone fans are hoping that June will see the announcement for the release of the iPhone 5 at the WWDC 2012. Many pundits believe there is no chance of this happening and it is only wishful thinking. It may be more likely that Apple will set the release date closer to the fall in the US, with many guessing September or October.
Why we shouldn’t expect a summer iPhone 5 release date
There are many reasons that suggest why a summer iPhone 5 release date isn’t plausible. Apple are only just selling their Apple iPhone 4S with smaller network carriers and if they were to release a newer version there would not be time for the 4S to become a viable investment for said carriers. This in addition to the fact that the iPhone 4S in only 8 months old goes against the brand releasing a newer version in June.
On the rumor mill, there are been postings from Asian sources online, claimed to be component partners, that had let information leak that the iPhone 5 will be launched in the fall based on production cues from Apple. This is yet another reason to suggest that the phone will not be revealed in June.
Finally it has been said that sales of the iPhone 4S are plummeting. This may lead to cause and effect, demand for the phones decrease and supply increases which means a surplus of the iPhone 4S. This happens each year, when the latest technology from Apple plummets, they release a new product. However this time around, the surplus may be due to iPhone 5 summer release rumors which should be squashed when WWDC 2012 comes around next month and the iPhone 5 is a no-show.
