The new-generation Kia Forte, Sportage and Sorento are finally pushing Kia in the spotlight thanks to the more aggressive styling courtesy of Audi’s ex-chief designer. And now it looks like that infamous tiger grille will be making its way on to another Kia model, the 2012 Kia Optima K5.
2012 Kia Optima K5 brochure leaks, confirms HPD
In a leaked brochure that was sent in to us earlier today, we get a first glance at the 2.0 litre 2012 Kia Optima K5. With high performance dampers (something the Kia Sorento could really use) that matches the Sachs high performance dampers with floating pistons found on the Australian 2.4 GDI variant, the next generation Kia Optima boasts a vast ride quality improvement over its predecessor and prove it’s not just a pretty face.
Given the terrible conditions of roads here, we were hoping to see dual shock dampeners in the 2011 Kia Sorento but Kia’s US plant decided to hold that off until the 2012 model rolled out. This basically means we won’t be seeing the first Sorentos equipped with better suspension until sometime in early Q2 2012. Here’s hoping that launching the 2012 Kia Optima with the improved dampeners improves sales of the Kia brand which at the moment is still overshadowed by its sister Hyundai models: Sonata, Tucson and Santa Fe.
