Over on Reddit recently one gamer looked into Uncharted 4: The Battle of the Gravelines and then posted what he had found out.
He said that Graveline was a commune in Northern France and that in the late 16th century Queen Elizabeth I told Francis Drake to go to the Spanish Main and get the English to pirate ships that were Spanish. Meanwhile King Phillip of Spain was going to invade England so as to take over and reduce the power and influence of England. He went on to say that during 1588 the Spanish Armada then made their way to the British Chanel and up to Calais. Drake was told to watch over the Armada as the British were preparing to ambush.
When he followed them he went off route and followed the Nuestra Señora del Rosario ship which was said to have treasure. Therefore he lost track of the Armada. Drake took gold from the Nuestra Señora del Rosario and then went on to ambush the Armada. However they outnumbered him and so he fled with the British pursuing him. The British then chased the Armada and beat them, which was at Gravelines, presumably.
Drake gave the loot to British officials but some of it went missing and it was said that Drake had it.
So this is what the Redditor sees as being the Gravelines connection to Francis Drake. He is assuming that Nathan Drake is going after the treasure that was missing and will probably have to fight the Spanish pirates in the British Channel.
Other people have applauded the way he has looked into this but some say that the game isn’t going to be called Battle for Gravelines. Others disagree saying “I think it will be, based on this picture, but I could be wrong. We’ll see how it goes. But if so, this would be pretty cool, it was Sir Francis Drake’s biggest plunder. Except I’m definitely missing something. In UC2 Drake found Shambhala and in UC3 they found a city in the desert. Who know’s what they’ll find in UC4. Atlantis? Haha”
Another user pointed out that “I hope it’s true after reading you’re research and looking at that photo. But hey we’ve only got until June 9th until we find out!”
So what do you think?
