The thing with the starter Pokemon is that you probably won’t see much of it later so although it is your very first Pokemon, most people would probably forget about it and focus on the more common Pokemon like Eevee. The starter Pokemon often feels worthless since you won’t be seeing much of Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur.
The new update will allow players to collect candy of the Pokemon that they choose to buddy with. According to Niantics, the new Buddy Pokemon feature will allow players to choose one Pokemon to buddy. Players will receive some special reward and experience along with some extra candies just by walking together. The chosen Pokemon will appear beside the players Avatar.
This will be a great way for players to power up Pokemon that are not so common as well. Whether this will convince some of the players to come back to the game is a whole other issue.
