New HTC One Google Play Edition Is A Nexus 6 In Our Books

Samsung is probably frowning at the moment as the attention for the Galaxy S5 got cut short by close rivals, HTC and its One M8. The spotlight has been on HTC ever since and things are escalating to a whole new level with the company announcing the Google Play Edition of the device.

If you’re blurred to all of this, a Google Play Edition means that the device won’t come with the manufacturer’s perks. Instead, the basic Android OS will be in place. The Google Play HTC One will cost $699 on the US Google Play Store and will soon be open for pre-orders.

Of course, the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat will have built in support for the HTC One’s features like the dual camera.

The HTC One is running on a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz with 2GB RAM. Consumers can choose from 16GB or 32GB version of the device. However, both are expandable to 128GB through a micro SD card. The HTC One will also run on 4G LTE and powered by a 2,600mAh battery.

Looking at the HTC One Google Play Edition, it doesn’t look like HTC at all. Instead, it looks more like a Google Nexus 6. Of course, the Nexus 6 will be cheaper than this.
