Ever since Bethesda acquired Fallout, the gaming series have been built on the same foundations that were used by the Elder Scrolls series. If the pattern is to follow, then Fallout 4 will no doubt be based on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
By this, we are referring to the game engine and Bethesda must not apply Skyrim’s game engine on Fallout 4. This is because Fallout 4 is going to be the first title in the series to debut on both the Xbox One and PS4, hence, it requires a new engine.
Of course, this is not to say that the game engine on Skyrim is bad. Instead, the 4-years old engine is not optimized for the latest generation consoles and applying it on Fallout 4 will only limit the game’s offerings.
With Fallout 3 being pretty much awesome, Bethesda will have to dig deep if they ever wish to make Fallout 4 better than its predecessor. Well, the game developer can start with creating a new game engine specifically for Fallout 4 and give the series its own identity instead of relying on Elder Scrolls.
