Citroen DS Range To Head To The US?

Citroën’s luxury DS sub-brand may be making its way to the United States, and although we know that ther will be certain hurdles to overcome on the way, we can’t help but be super excited about this rumor.

Car and Driver were the ones to report this, which refers to a source within the French automaker that describes the decision to move the DS to the US as “necessary” and that we can expect it to happen in a few years time. That is the most shocking thing to come from this report. We’d have thought that with a US debut in sights, that Citroën would be doing everything they could to get everything ready from a service network, to a distribution channel, to sales and marketing.

It’s this collection of obstacles that leave us feeling a bit unsure about the return of the DS brand. You would have thought there would be some evidence of some sort if the company were planning to do this. As there isnt any, it makes the rumor more suspicious.

Ffor people that may need reminding – at the moment DS have three models for sale. The DS3 comes in hardtop is a cabriolet and as a hot hatch named the Rracing, would be competing against a premium B-segment model such as Mini’s Cooper and Cooper S. The DS4 is a hatchback which we think would match up to the Buick Verano. The DS5 is top of the range and ony comes as a siable (for a French vehicle) car, therefore could be the hardest one to break the US market.
