The Mazda CX-9 definitely got a lot of attention when it was released last year but it looks like all eyes are on the Mazda CX-5 now that Mazda has made it clear that the new model will be coming in with a new engine option.
According to Mazda, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will not only be getting a refreshed design but the 2017 model will also come with a diesel engine option. Not many automakers seem to be willing to offer their diesel-powered model in the US after the Volkswagen scandal but Mazda seems to be more than willing to take the chance.
The Mazda CX-5 diesel model will be powered by a 2.2-liter SkyActive-D engine. There are also a few other gasoline engine options as well. A lot of details are still a mystery right now but we should be learning more about the Mazda CX-5 when Mazda release it early this year.
