Madden NFL 15 Review: Back In A Big Way

One game that stands out in the world of sports games on consoles is Madden NFL 15. There are numerous reasons for this with the main being that the developers have spent a great deal of time and effort into offering a complete gaming experience. So what makes the game stand about?

The graphics and presentation is stunning and the graphics do shout out at you. Everything from the players down to the grass is better than any other version that has come before it. This of course means the game is superb when playing it on an HD TV. The players look like who they are supposed to portray and the next gen consoles have allowed for more details, such as on the jerseys of the players and their helmets.

The stadiums take on the appearance as they do in life and the sound effects that are supposed to come from the PA systems sound great. The voices of Phil Simms and Jim Nantz give play by play commentary and it does make you feel as though you are actually watching a game and not playing.

The pregame talk is also great and the halftime show along with Larry Ridley is superb. Simple words really cannot explain just how good the graphics really are.

Madden 15 has gameplay that is more detailed along with complex and there are numerous options and actions available. The right analog can be used to guide the blocker and it is these options that are immersive which helps to make Madden 15 a battle each time you play.

You do have to be fast on the offensive and make fast decisions. The AI is smart and the cornerbacks do eye the quarter back longer so that they can see where you are going to pass the ball and they get their fast when you do throw. The game is very challenging for offensive capabilities.

There are many suggested plays but a lot of them are not the best, you will want to go into your own playbook to find play that you will find more comfortable. There have been minor changes to the gameplay. For instance there is a pie chart graph that shows up when you scroll over a player. This will show you how tired they are along with more crucial stats and it is a great way to monitor players so you can make substitutions.

The gameplay is great but it can be frustrating at first until you master it.

There is the First Interactive Experience in the game and this allows the player to play out some different scenarios. This is a great mini game that you can play while you are waiting for the console to download the needed information.

The Skill Trainer allows gamers to learn play calling from the beginning along with showing novice and those who have played a long time, some of the best offensive plays. You can try new moves and running. This is something worth looking at and you could spend hours in the mode.

The Gauntlet mode is a lot of fun and it’s easy to get into. You have to complete tasks and for every five there is a Boss task. You get three lives in this and it will have you trying to beat your best score all the time.

The Connected franchise mode comes with a new feature called the confidence meter. This is a superb addition to the game and the confidence of the player affects the stats throughout a season in both negative and positive. There are numerous factors that can change the confidence of the player and it mimics real life.

Madden NFL 15 is a superb addition and the mechanics do make the game feel real. The graphics are superb and you can continue playing for a long time with the Connected and Gauntlet modes. The announcers can get repetitive, however they don’t overshadow what a superb job EA have done with the game.
