The Resident Evil franchise has been around for so long now and is one of the most popular games out there. The brand brags a huge fan base with some being in their late 40s. The age group is diverse when it comes to the fans of Resident Evil.
Like other game developers, Capcom has been pushing for the game to appeal the younger generation of gamers. As a result, there is a split crowd with half of them criticizing the game developer for the genre shifts while the other half liking the new Resident Evil.
Capcom didn’t stop there. The game developer even teamed up with fashion brands that are popular with the youngsters to market Resident Evil. Other methods of marketing see the franchise participating in holiday events like Halloween and opening a café under the brand name in Shibuya, Tokyo.
With Resident Evil 7 already in the makings, the elder fans are nervous on seeing its outcome. Will it make it or break it. The fans have been voicing out for the game to be restored to its traditional gameplay for some time now. Besides, the elder fans are the ones with purchasing power not the youngsters.
It doesn’t look too good for the original fans. Once Resident Evil completes this shift to focus solely on the younger generations, we will see the first few batch of fans hanging their controllers.
