Just when we thought that we will be seeing more diesel powered models here in the US, Volkswagen came and burst that bubble with their diesel scandal and now, it seems like all the automakers are trying to avoid offering their diesel powered models here in the US but not Mazda.
Mazda has announced that they will be offering the diesel-powered Mazda CX-5 here in the US. The vehicle will come in as a 2017 model and if it does arrive, the diesel-powered Mazda CX-5 will be the first diesel-powered Mazda to reach our shores.
The Mazda CX-5 will be powered by a 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D engine that will be tuned to meet the emission standard here in the US. If everything goes according to plan, the Mazda CX-5 with the diesel engine should be arriving in February next year.
Fans were hoping that the CX-5 would come with a new and more powerful engine but we think this is much better.
