The Android 4.4.2 OS has been around since late last year and now, phone manufacturers are looking to roll out this latest firmware to its devices. However, there has been so much confusion over what devices will get the update.
The uncertainty lies with Motorola, Sony and Samsung devices. Motorola users can relax as the company will be updating the Moto X smartphone. Of course, this is only for the AT&T variant of the device.
Then there is Sony and it Xperia line of smartphones. The Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and the Xperia Z Ultra will all get updated. This is confirmed by Sony’s official blog. The update is expected to roll out somewhere between Q1 and Q2 this year. Following the update these trio, Sony will look to push it out for other Sony devices which include the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2.
Finally, there is Samsung. After so much confusion, the Galaxy S3 appears to suffer a long delay to get its hands on the latest KitKat. Samsung Saudi Arabia revealed that it will be cancelled. Even Samsung Poland denounced the update for the Galaxy S3 smartphone. However, the Galaxy Note 2 might come in selected countries only. As for the Galaxy Note 3, users will get the update.
There is a lot of twist and turns concerning the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update and it won’t be long until the air is cleared up. Until then, expect the above to be the way things will go.
