We got a glimpse of what the next Volkswagen SUV will look like this week when Volkswagen took the covers off the new Volkswagen T-Prime Concept GTE in China.
The concept that they showed off came riding on the MLB platform from Volkswagen. Under the hood is a plug-in hybrid engine that will be delivering about 375hp and 516lb ft of torque thanks to the 134hp electric motor and 2.0 liter turbocharged gas engine. The combination will return about 87MPGe.
The concept came with three driving modes, E-Mode, which is a pure electric model, a Hybrid mode as well as the GTE mode which will allow the vehicle to go from 0-60mph in 6 seconds with a top speed of 139mph.
The exterior design was described as being fun and playful while sound nice but it looks like not everybody was happy with the direction Volkswagen is taking with the design. The new concept will be the base for an upcoming new SUV which will be sitting above the Touareg model.
