The 2014 Porsche Cayman Against The 2013 Subaru WRX STI: Who Is Faster?

Automobile Magazine have made the decision to put the 2014 Porsche Cayman in a road battle against the 2013 Subaru WRX STI to compete against each other to find out which of the two is the fastest car. A video of the whole event was posted onto YouTube.

The Porsche Cayman is powered by a 275hp 2.7 liter F-6 engine together with a six speed manual. The vehicle comes with sales starting at $70,160.

To begin with, let’s take a look at some facts and numbers. The Subaru WRX STI runs on a 305hp 2.5 liter turbocharged F4 together with a six speed manual transmission. It is on the market for $38,190.

At the beginning of the video we see the two vehicles speed off and it comes as a bit of a shock to see that the Subaru take a considerable lead over the Cayman and is capable of keeping this lead for the majority of the duration of the race. It is only at the end in the last seconds of the race that the Cayman manages to overtake.

People would never have guessed that a Subaru would be able to win over the Cayman and at the end of the day the Cayman have shown us why it is amongst the top sportcars available There are people that believe that the Subaru began to lose its lead towards the end of the race because of the drag that the vehicle got from its wing.

Even though the Subaru has got a bog wing, the force that the wing generates, however this drag only takes place when travelling at a very higgh speed, which is something that neither car actually got to.

Other people think it was the gearing which was to blame and others believe that the Subaru is less aerodynamic than the Porsche.

Regardless of why the Subaru couldn’t keep its lead, credit should be given to the the fact that the Subaru, at the price its on the market for, was even able to stay in the race.
