BMW 5 Series Hybrid: Two Is Better Than One

It looks like one is not going to be enough as BMW work to bring in two plug-in hybrid BMW 5 Series model or, at least, that is what BMW Blog is saying.

BMW Blog reported that BMW is not working on one but two plug-in hybrid model called the 530e and 540e. They also added that the hybrid models will come with tech similar to the one we’ve seen on the 330e model.

It is believed that the BMW 530e model will come powered by a four-cylinder engine that will be paired with an electric motor to deliver about 280hp. The engine will offer about 35km of electric range and has a top speed of 75mph.

The 540e model, on the other hand, will come powered by a twin turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine that will deliver about 258hp when combined with the electric engine. It is also believe that both engines will come mated to a nine-speed auto transmission.
