Chevrolet Has A Jeep Renegade Killer In The Works

America and Russia can never get along but that doesn’t stop Chevrolet from attempting to dominate the latter’s automotive market. The all-American carmaker had just taken part in the Moscow Motor Show and it unveiled the all-new Niva.

The SUV is going to take off-road driving to a whole new direction as it comes with parts like knobby BF Goodrich tires, a winch, snorkel, underbody cladding, tow hooks, integrated lamp guards, auxiliary lighting and a big roof rack.

Behind the features lies a sturdy body that sports that typical Chevrolet design. Of course, the rear is heavily inspired by the cars from Mercedes. Nevertheless, the Niva has got a lot of anticipation from the Russian crowd as it is partly developed by local company, Lada. General Motors has collaborated with the Russian carmaker since 1998 to create a wide array of vehicles for the Russian market.

On another note, compact 4×4 are rare to come by in the US. The segment is solely dominated by the Jeep Renegade. With Chevrolet unleashing the Niva, it will definitely rival the Renegade in every ground.

On the down side of things, Chevy didn’t reveal much on the powertrain of the Niva. Perhaps, the company wishes to test the public’s reaction before revealing more on the vehicle.
