2017 Mazda CX-9 Prototype Taken For A Spin

The AutoBlog boys surely had an opportunity of a lifetime, given that they were able to drive the new Mazda CX-9, and are extremely fond of it (in its entirety).

Mazda claims it to be best-driving entry in the three-row crossover class, and it definitely lived up to its name. Basically, it’s still considered to be a pre-pre-production car – with very heavy camouflage – but engine details, transmission, suspension and the steering are “largely final”. And it’s still a green light for car enthusiasts. Imagine how it’ll fare in the market when it’s launched officially. We think it’ll be a huge frenzy.

On the inside, the comfortable leather seats are paired with the smallish steering wheel that surprisingly felt natural in the hand. What’s more, it’s quiet; with thicker windows and active noise cancellation, and they all contributed to what they’re claimed to be: among the quietest vehicles in its class. It’s good to know that there’s a 2.5-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and it definitely is an excellent piece. And the 2.5-litre engine has something special too: the cooled exhaust gas recirculation system, which helps with efficiency. It’s going to be filled with so many exciting features when it releases next spring; we can’t wait any longer.
