The Volkswagen Golf has come a long way since it was first released. The 2016 model not only comes with a bigger interior now but it also weights a lot less than before thanks to the new MQB platform. How will the Mazda 3 fare against the Volkswagen Golf?

The Volkswagen Golf will come running on a 1.8 liter I-4 engine that will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The engine will be delivering about 170hp and 184lb ft of torque. The Golf will return about 25mpg in the city and 37mpg on the highway and will be coming in with safety features like tire pressure monitor, stability control, traction control and more.

The Mazda 3 will come with a 2.0-liter I-4 engine that will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The engine will be delivering about 155hp and 150lb ft of torque and will return about 29mpg in the city and 41mpg on the highway.

The Volkswagen Golf will retail for $18,495 while the Mazda 3 will retail for 29mpg in the city and 41mpg on the highway.
