2015 Ford Edge Review: Something For The Tech Geeks

Come next year, a new generation of Ford Edge will be ruling the streets and it will look to continue on the success that was built by its predecessor. The SUV is said to blur the difference between that from a luxury segment, and those that are built for the common market.

After all, the upcoming Edge is going to enhance the comfort, while also coming with technologies that are once thought to be exclusive for the luxury segment.

This is achieved through building the Edge based on the Ford Fusion Sedan. With the SUV standing on the same platform, there is no reason why it shouldn’t be able to offer the same handling dynamics with its cousin.

The design will also get some minor touch-up to give off a more menacing and solid look. Of course, Ford never actually went overboard to ensure that the next Edge is as beautiful as the current model. Then again, things are bigger and thicker with the upcoming vehicle.

In detail, the windshield is denser than before. Ford revealed that such decision was made to improve the noise insulation, thus, resulting in a more comfortable drive. Also, the Edge will be doing away with the typical American interior styling where the gaps are present and the innovations feels cheap.

The SUV will come with a quality makeover in its interior where the combination of cheap materials and work of art can offer a luxurious feel. Things get more amazing upon learning that the Edge will feature heated steering wheel, cooled seats and the new inflatable safety belts for second row seats. Speaking of the steering wheel, the one on the next Edge will be Ford’s adaptive wheel.

The entry level Ford Edge will be powered by a 2L Ecoboost engine that is able to achieve 24mpg on average driving conditions. Taking things up a notch is the 2.7L turbocharged V6 that comes packed with 300hp while returning about 22mpg through the AWD architecture.

All in all, the Edge will surely run rampant on the streets when it gets released. It is beautiful, innovative, high-tech, economic and also powerful. In short, the Edge is the complete crossover that will no doubt be a bestseller.
