2014 Rolls Royce 200EX: Nothing Like The BMW 7-Series

Rolls Royce had just unveiled the 200EX and it is going to be the cheapest model to come from the British carmaker in history. Before you start getting delusional thoughts on owning this beauty, it is best noting that Rolls Royce interpretation of cheap is still super expensive for the masses.

The 200EX will be sitting behind the Phantom as it has a smaller body, and a smaller price tag. The 200EX is already getting produced and it will come with some new, luxurious features. Among them includes the newly designed headlight graphic and the laid-back grille like those on the Phantom coupe and convertible.

Furthermore, the 200EX will be getting a faster backlight, C-Pillar and a more convex bodyside. Then again, all of these will be featured in a smaller frame that measures 212.6in long and 61in tall.

Many might compare the 200EX with BMW’s 7-Series. After all, Rolls Royce is part of BMW’s empire and they might share many similarities. Despite that fact, it is still wrong to adopt such thinking as the 200EX is still more luxurious than the 7-Series itself.

It has a unique body that is not shared with any other vehicle. In fact, the whole structure of the 200EX is nothing like the 7-Series at all. This is despite of the vehicle, being produced at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany, before being finished in Goodwood, England.

Even BMW confirmed this as they revealed that the vehicle is 80% original Rolls Royce. The exclusive parts are also inclusive of the all-new direct injection V-12 engine that will power the 200EX. The mill will deliver a whopping 550hp while also being fuel efficient. The electric motor is mated to the ZF 8-speed transmission which will also improve fuel economy by 6%.

All in all, the 200EX is a big dream that is nearing its completion. The luxurious sedan will be making its way to the showrooms when its gets released in Q4 this year.
