2014 Honda Insight Review: Don’t Even Think About Purchasing It

The Honda Insight is by far the worst vehicle Honda has ever produced in history. This is why we were extremely surprised when the Japanese carmaker launched an all new Insight earlier this year. To be fair, we have decided to test out the car.

We drove the Insight 1.3 hybrid HX 5D and were greeted by that boring feel that have been plaguing Honda vehicles this year. The Insight is powered by a 1.3L engine that generates 98hp and 123ft-lbs of torque.

For a 1300cc mill, the Insight performs decently as it can accelerate from stop to 62mph in just 12.5 seconds. Also, there is a top speed of 113mph. Then again, we find the performance figures useless as we don’t quite understand the purpose of the car. Is the Insight built to be powerful or economical?

If it is the latter, then the car is already spot on as it managed to offer 65mpg on average use consistently. This is pretty amazing considering that the Insight is the Toyota Prius’ biggest rival.

Then again, there is no need to enjoy so much financial savings if performance is poor. Upon stepping out of the 30mph zone, the gearbox on the Insight starts to slack which causes the car to become underpowered.

After discovering that, we believe that the Insight is nothing more than a simple city car with great fuel consumption. Trust us when we say that the Insight can’t perform a frustration-free driving experience.

The verdict is simple. Don’t ever spend £22,535 for a pile of rubbish like the Honda Insight. Like come on Honda! You are better than this!
