Samsung have finally revealed the Samsung Galaxy S5, one of the most anticipated smartphones of this year, and as expected it comes with some superb specs and outdoes many devices on the market already.
Apple for now are relying on the Apple iPhone 5C as being the answer for those wanting a phone with a cheaper price tag, but the iPhone 5S is its bigger brother and stands out with a similar price tag to the S5. Even with the lower price tag the iPhone 5C offers specs that are great. But how does it match up to the Samsung Galaxy S5?
The Apple iPhone 5C offers an 8MP camera; it has face detection, panorama, tap to focus and sapphire crystal lens cover. The Samsung Galaxy S has the 16MP camera along with HDR, selective focus and the fastest autofocus in any phone. Samsung do seem to offer a bit more when it comes to cameras.
There is the Super AMOLED display of 5.1 inches and 1980 x 1080 resolution on the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Apple iPhone 5C has the 4 inch display with 1136 x 640 resolution and offer 326ppi. Both of the displays offer a superb picture. When it comes to portability it is Apple that comes out on top, however for watching videos in HD it is Samsung that wins.
The Apple iPhone 5C has a plastic body and the device is offered in an array of colours. The handset is great for those who have a budget or for teenagers. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a slightly different look to it with a back that is perforated, but it doesn’t have the classic look that is seen on the iPhone 5S or even the Note 3. The Apple iPhone 5C comes out the winner here thanks to the better design.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with TouchWiz that is similar to that on its predecessor and it runs great with KitKat 4.4. iOS 7 on the Apple iPhone 5C is smooth and packs in some great software while running well on the hardware. On Samsung handsets Android typically has lagging and other issues, so Apple may have the lead here with consistency.
When it comes down to specs the Apple iPhone 5C cannot compete with the Samsung Galaxy S5. However for value it is superb as the 16GB version comes in at $99. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a price tag that is a lot higher, which means that some people may think twice before making the update from the Samsung Galaxy S4. Making the update from the Apple iPhone 4S or 4 to the 5C is an easy choice.
The price tag of the Samsung Galaxy S5 could affect the sales of the Apple iPhone 5S, given that both devices are in the similar price bracket, however they will not have any effect on iPhone 5C sales as the latter comes in with a cheaper price tag.
