New Kings: LG G3 vs Samsung Galaxy S5, New HTC One, Sony Xperia Z2

Very soon four flagship devices will hit the market; these are the HTC One M8, the LG G3, Sony Xperia Z2 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 both came out at the MWC in Barcelona and the HTC One M8 is coming out on March 28, while it will be June before we seen the release of the LG G3. But is it worth purchasing the Sony or Samsung handset or should you hang on and wait for the arrival of the other two?

When the Samsung Galaxy S5 arrives it will come with the Snapdragon 801 processor, which will be quad core at 2.5GHz and it will offer 2GB of RAM. The Sony Xperia Z2 will come with 3GB and it is thought that the other two handsets will also offer the same amount. The camera is 16MP and Samsung have bragged about it being fast auto-focus at 0.3 seconds. This means that it will offer something the others don’t. The handset will have 16GB of internal storage and it supports SD card.

The display on the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be 5.1 inches and this is FHD Super AMOLED which will offer a resolution of 1920 x 1080p along with 432ppi. It will have a battery of 2,800mAh along with Super Power Saving. In this mode the display is turned to black and white and many of the features are turned off. Samsung have said that when in this mode the device will last for 24 hours. The back of the handset comes with a fingerprint scanner along with a heart rate sensor. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has all the features that you would expect from TouchWiz, this means it has S Voice, TouchWiz and KitKat 4.4.

We don’t know a lot about what the HTC One M8 will offer but there has been many leaks going around about the hardware, the software and the specs. The device should come with a display of 5 inches in full HD 1080p and offer 440ppi. The HTC One M8 could have the quad core processor, maybe the Snapdragon 800 or 801 and this could be around 2.3GHz to 2.5GHz with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The handset may have 32GB or 64GB of internal storage and if the leaks are true we could see support for microSD card.

The HTC One M8 may have the UltraPixel camera on the back along with the dual lens, which should offer better photos. The HTC One M8 will come with a camera of perhaps 4MP or maybe 5MP on the front and should have a battery of about 31000mAh. The device will have HTC Sense 6 and Blinkfeed and possibly a fingerprint scanner, speakers on the front and always listening.

The Sony Xperia Z2 could be in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and it could have the Snapdragon 801 processor at 2.3GHz along with 3GB of RAM. It should offer 16GB of internal memory and it will have support for SD card. The design is aluminium and the handset will be water and dust proof, it should be able to stay underwater for around 30 minutes and up to 3 meters.

The Sony Xperia Z2 will have a camera of 20.7MP and this should be able to take video at 1080p and in 4K. The display is going to be 5.2 inches at 1080p and it will offer 424ppi. The handset will run on KitKat 4.4 and it will have the custom interface of Sony.

It is thought that we will see the arrival of the LG G3 in June and this could be around the same time as we see the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. There are rumours that the LG G3 may arrive with the Odin octa-core processor or perhaps the Snapdragon 805. The octa-core would mean the LG G3 would have four cores at 2.2Ghz along with four at 1.7GHz and it would make for a very powerful handset. The handset may also have 3GB of RAM along with a display of QHD 2K.

It is possible that the LG G3 could arrive with a fingerprint scanner and it may have a retina display. At the moment these are nothing but rumours and we did hear similar ones before the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S5 before it arrived.

At the moment all the handsets seem to be arriving with similar specs, these include water and dust proof, fingerprint scanner and improvements to the UX alsong with reducing the touchscreen latency and updating faster. The LG G3 stands out but at the moment what we know about it is all rumours.
