There are numerous mods for Minecraft and they all go towards changing how the game looks. They often include texture packs which can add detail to the blocks. However one of the biggest changes has come by way of the Sonic Ether Unbelievable Shaders mod. The Shaders completely change lighting in the game and uses realistic effects that you would typically find in a big budget game.
The latest version of the mod adds in clouds that look very realistic, this is unlike other mods which usually add in a static image for the sky. When they cross under the sun realistic shadows are cast onto the world.
Rain effects have also been added into the game and instead of just seeing 2d particles with sound effects, the SEUS brings wet ground along with creating reflections and puddles on the floor.
