The Mobile World Congress this year should be home to some of the most interesting smartphone releases. It is thought that this is where we will see one of the most anticipated devices, the Samsung Galaxy S5 along with the latest handset from Apple. It has been said that Apple will launch the iPhone 6 this year and we have heard that the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 could arrive bezel free.
There is a lot of history between Samsung and Apple handsets and this year the rivalry will continue as both companies launch similar designed handsets. Rumours are going around that the Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6 could both arrive with a bezel free display.
It is thought that Samsung will be the first to reveal their handset at the Mobile World Congress and at the same time they are doing away with the Home button. This would allow for a new experience with a wider display.
Samsung could introduce the bezel free design with fingerprint scanner and they may also reveal new panel technology. It is thought that Samsung will include similar features to what Apple revealed with Touch ID.
Korea Herald believes that the finger print scanning will not be on the whole of the display, but just on the left and right at the bottom.
Using the whole of the display was talked about recently but it was said that this wouldn’t be seen until towards the last half of the year thanks to there being technological barriers. The bezel free design would support just a single panel layer and not the four layers of indium tin oxide. This means that the handset would have touch controls that were more sensitive. The Samsung Galaxy S5 display could perhaps be used even when wearing gloves.
The bezel free Apple iPhone 6 could mean that Apple will be able to place the Touch ID on the display. By removing buttons from the display the Touch ID would be more accurate. Which device will be the best is another matter and we are just going to have to wait and see them both before choosing.
